…as Milan join race for Nigerian striker
Atletico Madrid are yet to make a formal offer to Genk for Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Onuachu, 27, was linked with a January move to the La Liga champions, according to Spanish outlet Marca on Wednesday, but the Belgian club stated that transfer talks were yet to begin between both parties over the striker.
The Nigerian has scored 56 goals and made seven assists in all competitions for Genk since he arrived two years ago from Midtjylland.
“KRC Genk have heard nothing from the Spanish club (Atletico). The agent of Onuachu also has not been informed by Genk on any offers for the striker,” a report on Limburg stated. “For the time being, there’s nothing about the striker moving in January, although that can change very quickly in the coming weeks.”
Meanwhile, Italian club Inter Milan, have also joined city rivals AC Milan in the race for the Nigerian striker.
He has also been linked with a host of Premier League teams with Liverpool, West Ham and Brighton in recent weeks.
Onuachu, who has 11 goals in 14 games this term, scooped three awards – the Ebony Shoe award, the Belgian Professional Footballer of The Year and top scorer’s awards last season.
