Family of the late legal practitioner, Chief Samuel Olasupo Morohundiya, have reminded him 30 years after his demise.

According to a statement on Thursday, the Morohundiya family extolled their late patriarch, saying he was passionate about the law and legal practice.

“Chief Olasupo Morohundiya was passionate about all things to do with law and legal practice. One of his legacies, the Olasupo Morohundiya Foundation for Legal Education Development which he bequeathed in his last will and testament dated 1st day of June 1989, to be commissioned as a non-profit organisation established to advance the cause of legal development in Nigeria.

“In addition, he directed in Paragraph 21 — (vii) ‘A sum of N100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) net to the University of Ibadan, Oyo State as Endowment Fund. The annual interest accruable from it to be used for prizes for the Best Final Year Law Student or Students as my (Olasupo Morohundiya’s) contribution or prizes as the University authorities may decide and recommend to my Executrices and Trustees.’

“Chief Samuel Olasupo Morohundiya had also donated a prize to be awarded to the best student in Land Law in the Nigerian Law School in Lagos while he was alive,” the statement partly reads.

The statement added that Morohundiya was a dedicated Christian who was the Legal Adviser to the Nigerian Baptist Convention.

“In his last will and testament, he did not forget the First Baptist Church, Ikeja, the Nigerian Baptist Convention, and other charitable organisations to which he was committed, notably the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Ibadan Branch, of which he was the Vice President in Oyo State and the Nigerian Boy Scouts, Ikeja Branch,” the statement added.
