D’Tigers captains, Ike Diogu and Ben Uzoh, have been named in the preliminary roster to feature in the first window of the 2023 FIBA Men’s World Cup qualifiers in Benguela, Angola from November 26 to 28.

The Nigerians who are in Group A will face Cape Verde, Mali, and Uganda.

They will tackle Cape Verde in their opening game on November 26 before squaring off against Mali on November 27 while their final group game comes up against Uganda on November 28.

Nwosu, who won the Russian league title in 1996 with CSKA Moscow, played in 14 different countries during his 14-year career. He will be assisted by Rivers Hoopers coach, Ogor Odaudu.

The players invited are – Ike Diogu, Ben Uzoh, Jeleel Akindele, Tarekeyi Edogi, Amanze Egekeze, Ike Iroegbu, Christopher Obekpa, Jordan Ogundiran, Keith Omeorah and Onyenso Kingsley.

Five home-based players were invited for the qualifiers – Abdulwahab Yakubu, Michael Okiki, Ibe Agu, Bright Akhuetie and Owen Oriakhi.

Nigeria who won all their games in the qualifying series to the 2019 World Cup in China will be hoping to continue their unbeaten run in the qualifiers this term.
