The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has arraigned the chairman of Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State,  Ibrahim Abdullahi, before a Kano High Court on four counts bordering on financial misappropriation.

The prosecution, led by Ibrahim Garba, told the court on Wednesday that the defendant in March 2018 used his office to confer an advantage on another public officer and paid N680,200,00 to one Abdullahi Adamu  between March 10  and March 20, 2018.

The prosecution further alleged that the amount paid as percentage was “in excess of three to five percent.”

The prosecution also said the council chairman, in June 2018, further authorised the payment of N733,000 in excess of three to five percent to a public officer.

Counsel for the prosecution told the court that Abdullahi acted contrary to the provisions of Section 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other related Offences, Act 2000.

The defendant pleaded not guilty.

The defense counsel, Ibrahim Nassarawa, made an application for bail.

The presiding judge, Justice Jemilu Sulaiman, admitted the defendant into bail on self-recognition in the sum of  N500,000.

The case was adjourned to January 17, 2022.
