The President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, and the Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, have commended the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for providing exemplary leadership in the state.
Speaking at the New Telegraph Newspapers Awards ceremony when Sanwo-Olu received the New Telegraph Governor of the Year 2021 (Good Governance) award, Lawan said the governor was an excellent example of what a focused administration could achieve.
“To whom much is given, much is expected. These awards certainly are meant to make us do better going forward. Our executive governors have done extremely well with very little resources. I want to commend our governors for doing so well,” he was quoted as saying in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, and titled, ‘Lawan, Kalu hail Sanwo-Olu for New Telegraph good governance award.’
On his part, Kalu, who is also the publisher of Daily Telegraph Publishing Company, commended the governor for the crucial role he has played in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Responding, Sanwo-Olu said the award was about governance and ensuring that the citizens get the desired dividend of democracy.
“And indeed, it is an honour and with every sense of humility, that I receive this award on behalf of the entire 22 million Lagosians who continue to support our government, who continue to see that the journey of a greater Lagos is on course and who continue to bear with the little inconveniences of all the infrastructure we are doing,” he added.
